Published: 15 Aug 2023 03:15pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters have cut the side of a car away to free the driver of a vehicle that collided with a bus this morning in Sydney's inner west.

The incident occurred just before 8am on Victoria Rd, Drummoyne.

After hitting the bus, the car ploughed into a bus shelter, injuring a pedestrian.

All 15 passengers on the bus were escorted to safety.

The pedestrian was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to hospital.

The driver, who was trapped after the crash, was freed from the car after firefighters used hydraulic cutting tools to remove the drivers' side door.

He was immediately taken to hospital.

Firefighters then used stabilising equipment to ensure the bus shelter was safe, before setting up an exclusion zone for pedestrians.

The incident caused major traffic disruptions to morning peak traffic.
