Fire and Rescue NSW saves up to 60 vehicles in car park blaze - VIDEO - Bankstown

Published: 21 Mar 2023 05:33pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters have got down on their hands and knees to extinguish a blaze in a Bankstown car park, saving up to 60 vehicles.

More than a dozen firefighters were called to the second level of a three-storey car park in West Terrace just after 3:15pm.

They found two cars engulfed in flames and four others damaged by radiant heat.

Fire crews were forced to crawl through a plume of hot, black, low-lying smoke with their hoses to reach and douse the blaze.

They managed to quickly put out the fire and stop it from spreading to other vehicles.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a woman for smoke inhalation before transporting her to hospital for further treatment.

FRNSW investigators and NSW Police are working to establish the cause of the fire but it's not considered suspicious.
