Fire and Rescue NSW assist the clean-up operation after severe flooding in Cootamundra - VIDEO - Cootamundra

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has joined forces with the State Emergency Service to assist the people of Cootamundra after the town suffered significant flash flooding overnight.
Firefighters and SES crews began clean-up operations at 4:30am after more than 100mm of rain fell over the course of the past 24 hours.
Two vehicles, stuck in floodwaters were rescued and urgent assistance was required at the local Retirement Village, where residents were evacuated.
Firefighters were also called upon to assist in sandbagging at various places throughout Cootamundra to limit the damage caused to other buildings.
Residents have been forced to evacuate their homes in certain parts of town, while many local roads have been closed, severely affecting access in and out of the town.
With water flow expected to continue throughout the day, the town will remain on flood alert.
