***VISION ALERT*** Mullumbimby Fire Station set to celebrate 100 years of operation - Mullumbimby

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Mullumbimby Fire Station is set to commemorate a special milestone, celebrating 100 years of operation this Saturday.

More than133 firefighters have come through its ranks during the station’s century-long history.

Members of Mullumbimby’s on-call crew balance their Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) duties with family life and primary employment.

The station currently boasts 19 firefighters, six of whom have CASA accreditation to fly the station’s Remote Pilot Aircraft (RPAS) or drones, allowing for real-time insights during an incident without exposing firefighters to dangerous conditions.

Commissioner, Jeremy Fewtrell, will be in attendance on Saturday (24 August) and has acknowledged the milestone is significant for FRNSW as well as the local community.

“The first ‘vehicle’ this station was equipped with was a horse drawn manual pump cart, which shows just how far firefighting technology has come in the last 100 years,” Commissioner Fewtrell said.

“A lot has changed in that time, but one thing remains the same… that is our people’s dedication to protecting and serving the community of Mullumbimby,” Commissioner Fewtrell said.

The milestone will be marked with an official ceremony, speeches and historical display commencing at 5pm.
