**VISION ALERT** Intense blaze at industrial galvanising factory - Girraween

Published: 25 Jun 2024 03:46pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has extinguished a fire which broke out in an industrial galvanising factory at Girraween, in Sydney's west, earlier today.

More than 20 FRNSW appliances and 60 firefighters responded to the incident in Amax Avenue around 11.45am.

Crews quickly got to work and tackled the intense blaze which had taken hold in the premises.

An aerial ladder appliance was used in the operations to wet the roof whilst firefighters worked on the ground to stop it from spreading to other properties.

Crews also protected a large amount of chemicals, which had the potential to further fuel the factory fire.

It took approximately one hour to contain the blaze and another few hours to completely extinguish it.

More than 40 people were safely evacuated from the premises and there were no reported injuries.

Investigations are now underway to determine what caused the fire.
