Swift Water Rescue - Agnes Banks

Published: 08 Nov 2020 02:48pm

Just before 3pm, Sunday 8 November, Fire and Rescue NSW were called to a rescue incident in the Nepean River near Springwood Road, Agnes Banks.

Crews from Regentville and Ropes Crossing Fire Stations arrived on scene to find two women trapped in waist deep water after their Kayak had capsized. A strong current meant the kayakers were unable to make it to shore and a large multi-agency rescue ensued.

Fire and Rescue NSW were joined by NSW Police, the NSW Rural Fire Service and the NSW State Emergency Service to undergo the intricate rescue.

Specialist swift water rescue teams were able set up ropes to access the kayakers and brought them out of the river safely just before 4.30pm.

Both women were left in the care of NSW Ambulance, however no injuries were reported.
