Restaurant Fire - Parramatta

Just before 2pm this afternoon Fire and Rescue NSW received multiple Triple Zero (000) calls reporting a building fire on George St, Parramatta.

Upon arrival crews found large amounts of smoke and flames issuing from the roof of a restaurant. Firefighters managed to quickly contain the blaze to the building of origin, however the kitchen of the restaurant was significantly damaged.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing however initial reports suggest the fire began in the exhaust fan of the restaurant.

Traffic on George St may be affected as emergency services continue to render the area safe.
