Building Fire - Westmead

Just before 6:30pm this evening, Fire and Rescue NSW responded to a hospital on Dragonfly Drive, Westmead after receiving reports of a fire in the basement of the building.

Multiple crews from Fire Stations across Sydney, arrived shortly after to find large volumes of smoke issuing from the hospitals loading dock.

Firefighters found a large fire in a substation in the basement of the hospital and are currently working to extinguish it and prevent further fire spread.

As a result of the incident, approximately 200 people including 60 patients have been evacuated from the hospital.

NSW Police and NSW Ambulance are in attendance although no injuries have been reported.
