Car into Shops - Cessnock

Shortly before 10am this morning, Fire and Rescue NSW were alerted to reports a vehicle had crashed into a shop on Darwin St, Cessnock.

Crews from Cessnock Fire Station arrived on scene to find a single vehicle had plowed into the front of a store, trapping the driver inside the car. As a result of the crash the structural integrity of the shop had been severely impacted.

Firefighters are currently working with specialist engineers to render the building safe.

The driver of the vehicle has been safely extricated from the car and is being treated on scene by NSW Ambulance.

Residents should avoid the area while operations are ongoing.
