Flying Fox Rescue - Zetland

Just after 11:30am this morning, Fire and Rescue NSW were called to help rescue a Flying Fox that had separated itself from its colony, in Hansard St, Zetland.

Crews from Alexandria and Woollahra Fire Stations arrived to find a lone Flying Fox, approximately twenty metres high in a tree. Firefighters consulted with WIRES who established the animal may be sick or injured.

Firefighters were able to utilise an aerial ladder to get the Flying Fox down. The operation took thirty minutes and ended with the animal being handed over to WIRES for treatment.
