Building Fire - Lismore

This morning at 6:34am, Fire and Rescue NSW were alerted to a fire in a cathedral on Leycester St, Lismore. Multiple Fire Stations from the Northern Rivers region have responded to the incident.

On arrival, crews found large volumes of smoke issuing from the roof of the building.

Firefighters gained access and quickly extinguished an initial fire, however, the blaze has spread to the rear of the property and into the roof. Crews are currently working to contain the spread and extinguish the blaze.

The school next door has been closed while the incident continues.

All occupants were able to self-evacuate from the building.

NSW Ambulance and NSW Police are also in attendance.

Residents in the area are asked to avoid the area and use caution when driving.
