Underground Carpark Fire - Rockdale

At about 4am this morning Fire and Rescue NSW crews from across Sydney’s south were called to reports of a building fire on Chapel Street in Rockdale.

Firefighters arrived to find a large amount of smoke pluming from the underground carpark of a multi-tenanted building.

Firefighters entered the smoke filled carpark of the three level building and found a car on fire.

The car has been extinguished however due to smoke, heat and sewer pipe damage some occupants are unable to return to their apartments.

30 people were evacuated and NSW Police and NSW Ambulance were in attendance. No injuries were reported.
