Carpark Fire, 200 Evacs - Epping

Published: 18 Aug 2020 10:01pm

Just after 10pm last night Fire and Rescue NSW crews from across Sydney's north west were called to reports of a building fire.

On arrival firefighters found large volumes of black smoke billowing from the basement level. Residents indicated that a car was on fire in the car park.

Firefighters entered into the carpark using air protection and thermal imaging cameras.

They found the fire which was partially contained by the building's sprinkler system.

The fire was extinguished and residents were able to return to their apartments.

Carpark fires are especially complex due to the various unknown and usually flammable substances stored in each bay as well as associated bio hazards due to damaged sewer pipes.
