Unit Fire - Redfern

Published: 17 Aug 2020 09:49am

Fire and Rescue NSW crews from a number of inner city stations attended a unit on George Street, Redfern that had caught fire this morning at 9.49am.

When crews arrived the fire, which had originated in an electrical outlet, was generating a large amount of smoke that was largely confined to inside the third floor unit.

The attending crews extinguished the fire six minutes after arrival and while the damage from the fire was minimal, the large amount of smoke had caused significant damage to the entire unit.

No one was inside the unit when the fire started, however 30 people were evacuated from the complex as a precaution.
