Gas Main Fire - Epping

Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Fire Stations across Western Sydney attended and incident at a residence on Bartil Close, Epping this morning after a rubbish bin caught alight in close proximity to a gas main.

Crews arrived shortly after 11:15am and quickly extinguished a blaze that occurred close to the home. A small fire started in the roof cavity, however damage was minimal.

Crews remained on site to monitor the incident while a gas technician worked to shut off the gas main.

FRNSW crews were clear from the scene shortly before 1:30pm.

It is believed the fire started after hot ash from a fire was disposed of in the bin.
