Building Collapse - Ashfield

Published: 24 Jul 2020 03:34am

At about 3:30 this morning Fire and Rescue NSW crews from across Sydney’s inner west and as far south as Liverpool were called to a three level building in Ashfield.

Initial reports indicated that brickwork in a building on Knocklayde Street had started to show cracking and internal doors were stuck shut due to building distortion.

Specialist firefighters from Liverpool fire station were requested, they attended and setup laser measuring devices to monitor for further building movement.

Numerous people have been evacuated to a local community centre.

Operations are ongoing.
