Published: 15 Jan 2023 10:22am

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has deployed a team of senior firefighters to Western Australia to help respond to major flooding in the state's north.

Six FRNSW inspectors and an administration support officer flew out of Sydney Airport this morning, bound for Broome and Kalgoorlie which are bearing the brunt of the extreme weather event.

The FRNSW contingent will be on the ground for five days, providing support in logistics, community liaison and safety planning activities, along with officers from other NSW emergency services.

A FRNSW in-water team has also arrived in Menindee, in far-west NSW, which has also been inundated by floodwaters in recent weeks.

They will support the NSW State Emergency Service-led operation which is continuing in the isolated small town.
