Firefighters battling villa fire - Mount Hutton

Published: 29 Nov 2022 10:48am

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews are battling a fire that's engulfed a villa in the Lake Macquarie suburb of Mount Hutton.

Just after 9am, eight fire trucks responded to the Cowmeadow Road address after numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received about a building well alight and large volumes of smoke.

More than 30 firefighters are working to contain the blaze to the severely damaged villa, which is under threat of structural collapse.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
