Firefighters save homes from intense garage fire - VIDEO - Lethbridge Park

Published: 20 Nov 2022 01:28pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) have battled an intense fire that spread to an adjoining home last night at Lethbridge Park, in Sydney's west.

A suspected electrical fault started the blaze and caused a series of explosions at the rear of the home in Mindanao Crescent just after 5pm.

Eight fire engines and 36 firefighters rushed to the scene to find a large plume of black smoke issuing from the property.

Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, fought desperately over 10 minutes to gain the upper hand when the flames spread to an adjoining house.

The fire was fuelled by eight motorcycles, four go-karts and a stockpile of petrol, oils and aerosols in the 20m x 10m garage.

Fire crews ensured the occupants of the main property, a 33-year-old man, a 54-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man, were out of harm's way.

They also protected the family's dog from the fire.

The blaze was extinguished 40 minutes later, the firefighters successfully preventing the fire from spreading to three other neighbouring homes.
