FRNSW flood team calls on firefighting skills to extinguish house fire - VIDEO - Walgett

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters, dropping supplies to flood-hit farmers, have quickly changed gears, rushing in to attack a house fire at Walgett, in the state's north.
FRNSW Strike Team 'Juliet' was delivering food and other groceries by boat to isolated properties on the eastern side of town yesterday, when it noticed a large plume of smoke around Neilly Street.
Reflecting FRNSW's motto, 'Prepared for Anything', the crew quickly responded to the fire, assisting local crews with incident management advice, pump and water supply, and exposure protection measures.
The house was destroyed, but crews stopped it from spreading to neighbouring homes.
FRNSW's efforts to assist flood-damaged communities are continuing.
At Forbes, in the state's central west, FRNSW crews have been helping assess damage to homes and major infrastructure.
Among the properties they were called to was a caravan park which had sustained significant damage, leaving many permanent residents displaced.
FRNSW deployed its Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), or drones, to assess the extent of the structural repairs needed, while firefighters have also been helping affected residents clean up.
Next week, flooding is expected to heavily impact the towns of Bourke, in the state's north west, along with Condobolin and Lake Cargelligo, in the central west.
Residents of these communities are urged to prepare now for potential impacts, and reminded to never walk, ride, drive or play in flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
