FRNSW specialists working to rescue paraglider after fall - Collaroy

Published: 08 Nov 2022 01:32pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters are working to rescue a paraglider who has fallen 20 metres down a cliff on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

The man landed below the Long Reef Point Lookout in Collaroy, following the mishap around midday.

He sustained injuries and is unable to walk to safer ground.

Specialist FRNSW crews, trained in vertical rescue, are now setting up for a slope evacuation.

This will involve them carefully carrying the patient to the top of the lookout, using a stretcher and rope.

NSW Ambulance paramedics are also on-scene and will treat the man once he's safely retrieved.
