E-scooter catches fire, destroying garage and luxury car - Manly

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews believe a faulty e-scooter sparked a garage fire which has destroyed a luxury Aston Martin car on Sydney's northern beaches.
Shortly after 5:30pm today, six FRNSW trucks and more than 20 firefighters were called to attack the blaze inside a multi-storey home in Spring Cove Avenue, Manly.
The resident made it out before the fire took hold and wasn't physically injured.
Fire crews managed to stop the flames engulfing the upper levels of the home, with only slight charring to the second-level balcony before the fire was extinguished.
FRNSW is using ventilation fans and gas detectors to clear the home of toxic smoke and ensure it is safe for people to re-enter.
Investigations have revealed the fire may have been caused by an e-scooter which was being stored in the garage.
It is not uncommon for firefighters to respond to fires which have been caused by lithium-ion battery-powered equipment such as e-bikes and e-scooters.
FRNSW is urging people to do their research before purchasing, using and storing these items.
