Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) carried out air monitoring at a school in Western Sydney after eight people were overcome by fumes.

Crews specialising in chemical spillage were called to the school at Wentworth Road, Orchard Hills at 8.45am.

Eight people were feeling nauseous and vomiting and firefighters provided medical attention prior to the arrival of NSW Ambulance. Two people were later transported to hospital.

Approximately 20 students were also evacuated.

It is believed a refrigerator, moved earlier in the morning, was leaking gas.

Firefighters have since given the all-clear on the air quality at the school.
