Additional Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) 'In-water' crews today have been deployed to flood-threatened areas of the state.

Highly-trained swift-water rescue technicians have formed Strike Team "India," which is heading towards the state's Northern Rivers to prepare for any flood emergencies whilst Strike Team "Juliet" is being positioned at Dubbo to assist the SES-led flood response.

Other FRNSW 'in-water' crews are already operational at Moama, Barham, Warren and Moree.

Firefighters have also been conducting aerial assessment flights at Deniliquin in the Riverina and at Barraba in the New England district, using FRNSW Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), or specially equipped drones to provide command centres with situation reports.

On the banks of the Murray River, fire crews have been assisting locals with sandbagging operations, whilst Strike Team Foxtrot, working with the SES and Surf Life Saving, has begun missions to identify dangerous obstacles threatening water craft in the flooded river around Moama.
