FRNSW helps investigate fatal house fire - Blacktown

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) and NSW Police are investigating a house fire in Sydney's west which has left one person dead and another seriously injured.
Firefighters found a bedroom engulfed in flames, after arriving at the property on Eltham Street in Blacktown shortly after 5am today.
The roof began to collapse as FRNSW crews pulled two occupants to safety.
A man, aged in his 60's, died at the scene, while a woman in her 80's was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
The blaze was so fierce it took firefighters an hour to control and almost two hours to extinguish.
It was contained to the room it started in, but the rest of the house sustained severe smoke and water damage.
FRNSW's Fire Investigation and Research Unit (FIRU) is now assisting NSW Police in investigating how the fire started.
An initial inspection of the scene has found no evidence of smoke alarms.
