Man in critical condition after explosion inside unit - Concord

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) is helping investigate an explosion inside a unit in Sydney's inner west, which has left a man with critical injuries.
Firefighters were called to Trafalgar Parade at Concord shortly after 2am today, with neighbours reporting they heard loud bangs and windows blowing out.
When FRNSW crews arrived, they discovered flames coming out of the top floor of the three-storey building.
A man inside the engulfed unit jumped to safety. He sustained serious burns, cuts to his head, chest and arms, and pain to the right side of his body.
An off-duty paramedic treated his injuries, before NSW Ambulance took over and transported him to hospital in a critical condition.
The man's neighbours managed to evacuate before the blaze took hold.
NSW Police have declared a crime scene at the property and are working with FRNSW's Fire Investigation and Research Unit (FIRU) to establish a cause.
While those investigations are continuing, it's believed the occupant may have lit a cigarette near a gas stove possibly left on, triggering the explosion.
