More than two dozen evacuated from smash repairs fire - Chatswood

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have helped evacuate more than two dozen people from the scene of a large fire today at Chatswood on Sydney's lower north shore.

Flames engulfed two cars on the lower floor of a three-storey smash repair workshop in McCabe Place around 11.45am.

Six fire trucks, including Hazard Materials crews, arrived at the scene to find large volumes of black smoke issuing from the property.

Firefighters quickly gained control of the blaze, helping to evacuate 15 people from the workshop and another 10 workers from adjacent businesses.

Two people have been treated for smoke inhalation by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene.

No-one has been injured in the incident.

Fire crews are working to ventilate the site as they try to determine what started the blaze.
