Two people have escaped an overnight house fire at Lakemba, in Sydney's south-west.

Five Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) trucks rushed to the blaze in Dennis Street, just after 11.30pm and found the brick home fully involved in flames.

Two residents made their own way to safety as the flames engulfed the roof of the house.

As three crews attacked the fire outside, two more, wearing breathing apparatus, entered the burning building and confirmed no-one else was inside.
