B-double rollover causes Hazmat incident - Trentham Cliffs

Published: 06 Jul 2022 01:42pm

A Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crew is at the scene of a hazardous materials incident, caused by a B-double trailer rollover at Trentham Cliffs, near Mildura, on the NSW-Victoria border.

The rig was travelling on the Sturt Highway just before 11.30am when its trailer overturned.

The truck was carrying up to 8000 litres of Ammonium Nitrate gel, commonly used in fertiliser as an oxidising agent.

A FRNSW Hazmat crew from Wentworth Fire Station is with Police and the NSW Rural Fire Station at the scene, attempting to contain the trailer's contents.

The highway remains open as authorities await the arrival of specialist equipment.
