Winter Fire Safety Campaign launch/Graduation Ceremony - Orchard Hills

A four-year-old boy, who almost died in a fireplace accident, and his mother will join the Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience, the Fire and Rescue New South Wales Commissioner and other dignitaries at a media conference this morning to launch the state’s annual Winter Fire Safety Campaign.
Cayden Blake was 12 months old when he walked into an open fireplace and suffered severe burns to his hands, arms and face. He spent three months on/off recovering in the Burns Unit at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Ever since the incident, Cayden has wanted to become a firefighter and he will be presented with his own ‘junior’ Fire and Rescue NSW uniform by the Minister and Commissioner.
Cayden and the media will also have an opportunity to watch 188 FRNSW firefighters graduating from the Emergency Services Academy at Orchard Hills.
