Two turtles and green tree frog saved in house fire - Blacktown

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) saved two turtles and a green tree frog following a house fire in Blacktown earlier this morning.

Five crews responded to numerous Triple Zero (000) calls about the blaze on Dunstable Road at approximately 6.20 am.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a single storey house well alight and reports that a person was inside.

Under extreme fire conditions, crews forced entry and commenced firefighting operations and a search for the reported person. Fortunately, nobody was inside at the time.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze however a firefighter suffered minor burns to their arm and was transported to hospital for assessment.

Two turtles and a green tree frog living in a terrarium inside the home were rescued during the incident.

The house was severely damaged in the fire and the cause is currently being investigated by NSW Police and FRNSW fire investigators.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
