Abandoned building fire - Video - Adamstown

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that's destroyed an abandoned house this morning at Adamstown in Newcastle.

The large blaze broke out around 4.30am in Park Avenue.

11 Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) trucks from Lambton, Charlestown, Newcastle, Merewether and Cardiff stations took about 90 minutes to contain the fire in the single storey building.

A number of cars in an adjacent vehicle storage yard were also damaged by flames.

Crews remained at the scene until 11am today to monitor hot spots and complete mopping up operations.
