Hazardous Material Incident - North Macksville

A truck crash at North Macksville on the State's north coast has turned into a hazmat emergency for Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW), just before 11am today.
A semi-trailer traveling south at " Wrights Corner " on Giinagay Way had jackknifed resulting in the fuel tank rupturing with a large amount of fuel entering the table drain.
FRNSW Hazardous Material Specialists have decanted fuel from the vehicle and declared the area safe.
The driver managed to exit the vehicle and was treated by NSW Ambulance.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) are on scene and NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has also been briefed on the incident.
NSW Police have closed the road and are waiting for a tow truck to right the prime mover.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) when you are involved in or see a crash can be the difference between life and death.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
