Boat Explosion - Fennell Bay

Published: 30 Mar 2022 07:56am

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) responded to a boat explosion in Fennell Bay last night.

On arrival, crews found the 30ft cruiser alight and adrift in the water just before 6pm.

Firefighters floated booms around the boat to protect the environment while the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) launched a vessel into the river to help extinguish the fire.

It was reported the cruiser was carrying a large quantity of fuel.

One male patient was transported by NSW Ambulance Paramedics to the hospital.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
