Hazardous Material Incident - Botany

Three people have been treated for breathing difficulties during a Hazardous Materials incident at a Botany industrial unit.
Upon their arrival at the unit in Hale Street just after 9am, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews found NSW Ambulance paramedics on scene treating two females and one male patient.
Firefighters quickly assisted the paramedics with emergency medical care.
All three patients were transported to hospital.
Fire crews set up exclusion zones around the area and Hazardous Material Specialists are working to determine the type of leaked substance.
Surrounding factories were evacuated as a precaution.
FRNSW have determined that the three workers inhaled carbon monoxide gas that was produced due to a small electrical fire in the rear of the coolroom.
The fire had self extinguished.
The area has been ventilated and all workers have been allowed to return to the surrounding factories.
Police are in attendance.
