Cookie Cutter Rescue - Rydalmere

Published: 21 Mar 2022 10:04am

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has removed a cookie cutter from a young girl's hand in Rydalmere in western Sydney this morning.

Crews were called to the rescue incident on South Street at 7.40 am.

The two-year-old girl was extremely distressed and her hand was turning purple.

Firefighters used lollies to placate the little girl before utilising specialist tools to remove the cookie cutter from her finger.

The toddler is now back in the arms of her very relieved mother.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for an emergency can be the difference between life and death.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
