Boardinghouse fire - Newtown

One person has died and three more people have been hospitalised after an intense fire in a Newtown boardinghouse overnight.
The blaze engulfed the two level building at the corner of Albermarle and Probert Streets around 1am.
Flames quickly spread throughout the building as eight occupants made their way to safety.
Some residents were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
Among those taken to hospital was a man, aged in his 80's.
Neighbouring properties were also evacuated at the height of the blaze.
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews extinguished the blaze, which is now under investigation.
Fire crews are working with Police to account for all known occupants of the boardinghouse.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
