FRNSW flood damage assessment teams -VIDEO - Northern Rivers and Sydney

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) is using high-tech drones and ground crews to assess widespread flood damage in Sydney and the Northern Rivers district.
The Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, or drones, are assessing damage to critical infrastructure from the air whilst the ground crews are recording damaged properties.
The 'Rapid Damage Assessment' information is being collated by the NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES), in charge of the flood response, so it can prioritise repairs and determine when to allow residents to return to their homes.
The RDA's are also being carried out throughout the flood-affected areas by the NSW SES and NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS).
FRNSW is conducting the inspections from Ballina and Casino in the Northern Rivers district to Leura in the Blue Mountains and Wisemans Ferry on the Hawkesbury.
FRNSW Assistant Commissioner - Regional Operations, Rob McNeil, said he is proud of the challenging work the crews right across the state are doing.
"Having the capability to survey and assess critical infrastructure such as dams, roads, water treatment facilities and bridges from an aerial view to support our specialists on the ground means we can reach more properties faster and get urgent resources where they need to be."
