Road damaged by Floods - Castle Cove

Published: 08 Mar 2022 03:22pm

A large section of the road and a retaining wall has collapsed behind a row of shops at Castle Cove on Sydney's north shore.

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) arrived on the scene to find part of Deepwater Road washed away due to the severe weather.

A large amount of water flowed into some of the shops, severely damaging one of the premises.

Local traffic was also impacted.

FRNSW evacuated the immediate area and set up an exclusion zone.

NSW State Emergency Service (SES) was contacted to assist with the incident.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
