Large Shed Fire - West Wyalong

Published: 17 Feb 2022 01:36am

A person has been treated in hospital for shock after a shed fire overnight at West Wyalong in the state's Riverina.

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews arrived at the property in Russell Street just after 1.30 this morning and found the 10x10m shed alight.

Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, attacked the blaze from two angles, preventing the fire from spreading to an adjacent home.

They fought the flames for more than two hours before extinguishing the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still being determined.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
