House Fire - Jesmond

Published: 10 Feb 2022 03:08pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews extinguished a house fire in Jesmond earlier this afternoon.

More than 25 firefighters attended the emergency incident on Heaton Street just after 3.00 pm.

Smoke was issuing from all sides of the property which is believed to have been vacant.

Residents in the adjoining properties were evacuated as a precaution.

Crews contained the fire to the house of origin and stopped it from spreading to neighbouring homes.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
