Dangerous chemical spill - Mascot

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has successfully cleaned up a dangerous chemical spill near Sydney Airport this morning.
Crews were called to a security gate on Airport Drive just before 7am, where the Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting Service had cordoned off an unknown chemical that had leaked through wet delivery boxes.
A male worker was overcome by fumes and was treated at the scene.
FRNSW firefighters used the delivery vehicle's onboard manifest to identify the chemical as Acetoine, a flammable, solid substance, used as a food additive in a variety of products.
Two firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, carefully moved the spilt chemicals into 300-litre Hazardous Material drums, covered by other crews with fire hoses at the ready, and rendered the area safe.
