Bull Rescue - Stroud

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have succeeded in a four hour operation to save a large, heavy bull, stuck in a deep creek bed at Stroud in the Hunter Valley.
When they arrived at the scene in Mill Creek Road just after 3pm today, the firefighters from Dungog Fire Station found the 850kg bull, named "Sanga", resting against two trees in the water.
The animal had slid down an embankment and was unable to climb to safety.
A veterinarian was called to sedate the animal before crews from FRNSW, assisted by the RFS, could start the rescue.
Firefighters placed four lifting slings under the bull and the farmer used a backhoe to pull the bull up the 10-metre embankment.
The bull was assessed by the vet and then returned safely to the farmer.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for an emergency can be the difference between life and death.
