Fire and Rescue NSW answers WA bushfire call - Sydney

Four Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) specialists have headed to Western Australia to help local authorities battle out-of-control bushfires in the south-west of that state.
The group is part of a larger contingent comprising staff from FRNSW, the Rural Fire Service, the National Parks and Wildlife Service and Forestry Corporation of NSW, formed in response to a request for assistance from Western Australia’s Department of Fires and Emergency Services (DFES).
The four FRNSW personnel, who will assist WA authorities with logistics, communications and safety advice, was farewelled at Sydney Airport this afternoon by FRNSW Deputy Commissioner – Strategic Capability, Megan Stiffler.
Firefighters in WA are battling catastrophic conditions with variable winds and temperatures above 40 degrees, influencing two major fires that are threatening lives and homes.
FRNSW regularly responds to requests for help during emergencies, locally, interstate and overseas, in line with its aim to be prepared for anything.
