Power Lines on Vehicle - Gordon

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews are attending an incident at Gordon, on Sydney's upper north shore, where a tree has fallen, snapping a power pole and bringing the wires down onto a car.
The driver is still in the vehicle on Ryde Road as fire crews are waiting for the power to be isolated.
All three lanes in each direction of Ryde Road are blocked to traffic and an exclusion zone has been put in place for safety.
Ausgrid crews have arrived and are cutting power before the lines can be removed from the car and roadway.
The State Emergency Service has also been contacted to remove the tree once the area is safe.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) when you are involved in or see a crash can be the difference between life and death.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said a large amount of electrical energy is discharged when lightning strikes a house, tree or car.
Community members are urged to keep up to date with local weather events that may impact their area.
"During a storm, stay indoors where possible to protect yourself, your loved ones and your pets. However, in the event of a fire, get out, stay out and call Triple Zero (000).”
