Singleton Santa "lolly run" - Singleton

Published: 15 Dec 2021 10:00am

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have helped Santa prepare for Christmas by taking him on the 16th annual “Singleton lolly run.”

Over five afternoons and 109-kilometres, the young and “young at heart” lined the streets of the Hunter Valley town to wave to Santa and the firefighters.

The event has become a highlight for Singleton since its inception in 2005.

The firefighters helped the other person in red hand out almost 8,700 bags of lollies to children from an iconic 1958 Bedford fire truck, owned by the Singleton Fire Brigade Social Club.

This year the event was dedicated to late firefighter, John Gilbert, and as usual, was extremely popular.

The “lolly run” helps Santa familiarise himself with the township before he begins delivering presents overnight on Christmas Eve.

Santa and FRNSW are reminding everyone not to leave unattended candles burning these holidays; ensure you have a fire escape plan just in case this festive season; don't overload power sockets; ensure your home's smoke alarms are in working order; keep decorations away from Christmas lights and always switch the lights off before going to bed.
