KITCHEN FIRE - Gregory Hills

Fire and Rescue ( FRNSW ) has been called to smoke issuing from a house at Gregory Hills in Sydney's south-west.
On arrival at the scene, just before 11am, crews found a fire in the kitchen caused by unattended food cooking on the stove.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire using a CO2 fire extinguisher.
The smoke logged house was then ventilated.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said the leading cause of house fires in NSW is leaving cooking unattended and it was important the community remembered to keep looking when cooking.
"If your cooking catches fire, never use water to put out a fat or oil fire, turn off the stove if it is safe to do so and call Triple Zero (000)."
