Person Rescued from Car Crash - Kogarah

Published: 24 Nov 2021 08:05am

Fire and Rescue NSW crews have rescued a woman, trapped in a flipped car after a two vehicle crash this morning at Kogarah in Sydney's south.

Crews arrived at Rocky Point Road around 8.15am and found the woman, in her 50's, suffering a leg injury and unable to free herself from the vehicle.

The FRNSW crews used a “jumbo ladder” to gain access to the car.

The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) when you are involved in or see a crash can be the difference between life and death.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said a large amount of electrical energy is discharged when lightning strikes a house, tree or car.

Community members are urged to keep up to date with local weather events that may impact their area.

"During a storm, stay indoors where possible to protect yourself, your loved ones and your pets. However, in the event of a fire, get out, stay out and call Triple Zero (000).”
