Garage Fire - Cantebury

Just after 11:30am, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) extinguished a fire in a double garage on Redman Street, Canterbury.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed a large amount of smoke issuing from the garage and managed to extinguish the blaze within 10 minutes.

The contents of the garage were totally destroyed by fire.

More than 20 firefighters attended the incident.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.

"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
