Unit Fire Cooks Hill - Cooks Hill

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) battled a unit fire in Cooks Hill in Newcastle earlier this morning.
Firefighters quickly worked to extinguish the fire across two apartments which were well alight when crews arrived at the unit on Darby Street At 6:47 am.
One male with burns was transported to Royal North Shore Hospital by NSW Ambulance.
The Blaze has caused extensive damage to both apartments.
Fire Investigators along with NSW Police are reviewing the cause of the fire.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.
"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
